Landscape Acrylic Painting

This realistic, acrylic painting using the technique of blocked in and glazing before the details are added on, is the artist's rendition of Badshahi Masjid (Emperor's Mosque) situated in the Walled City of Lahore, Pakistan. The Badshahi Mosque was commissioned by the sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb between 1671 and 1673. The architectural design of the mosque is greatly in resemblance to Jama Masjid of Delhi, India which was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1640. The mosque's stunning Mughal exterior architecture is highlighted in the rich, earthly colors. White marble carvings of floral design depicting Mughal art adorned the interior and exterior of the mosque.

Adding to the grandeur are the three, majestic, white marble domes, with the main one in the centre and two smaller ones surrounding it. The artist sets this painting around the mosque in the rise of dusk when the devotees gather to answer the call of prayer. The flock of birds circumambulating around the dome sends out the wave of spirituality and their soulful devotion to their Creator. The artist's aim in this painting is for the viewers to feel the spiritual connection to their Creator in not just the human hearts but other living beings as well.
